The Person Behind Harmony Rising

Harmony Rising - the name, it's simple, it involves food like most things in Ellen's life. When baked goods, bread especially, come out of the oven they make a faint, yet harmonious sound. All these ingredients rise together to make one delicious creation...that's Harmony Rising.

Working in kitchens has been Ellen's life passion since she was a wee youngin'. It has always been a happy place for her. Growing up she spent most of her time in the kitchen with her mom, watching her every move. Her mother has this amazing ability to make anyone feel comforted with food...and a hug. Naturally, Ellen wanted to be just like her.

So off she went to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY where she graduated with an associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Business Management.  She worked in the West Loop of Chicago for Chef Stephanie Izard and BOKA Restaurant Group for seven years and held several different positions. After an injury, Ellen took a break from the back of the house (the kitchen). In the fall of 2021, Ellen said goodbye to her home in the West Loop.

As creating delicious food is still Ellen's passion starting a small business in the form of a micro bakery at home is her way of keeping that passion for food alive and the "knead" for dough in her life.

“Food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate.” -Alan D. Wolfelt
